Astaxanthin is a reddish antioxidant carotenoid produced by microalgae, the same pigment that turns salmon and flamingos pink. It is one of the most studied antioxidants in nature.

In laboratory testing, astaxanthin is documented as a powerful quencher of singlet oxygen, one damaging type of free radical, measured far stronger than vitamin C in that specific test. Crucially for sensitive skin, it does not need the low, acidic pH that vitamin C requires, so it works without the stinging.

The science, explained

How plant stem cell
biotech actually works

This is one of the most misunderstood ingredients in skincare. Here is the honest version, no hype.

First, the myth. Plant stem cells in skincare do not become human cells, and they do not put living stem cells on your face. That idea gets repeated a lot, and it is simply not how it works. What actually goes into a serum is an extract, the concentrated compounds a cultured plant cell produces, not a living cell.

So what is really happening? Scientists take a small sample of a specific plant, then culture its cells in a controlled lab setting, essentially growing plant cells the way you might grow a culture in a petri dish. Those cultured cells produce a rich mix of protective compounds: antioxidants, peptides, and other molecules the plant uses to defend and maintain itself. That mix is what gets captured, standardized, and used in skincare. The value is in those compounds, and in the fact that culturing them means every batch is consistent and pure, rather than varying wildly like a raw plant extract would.

Why these two, on purpose

Most stem cell skincare
has no real data. Ours does.

This is the part that matters, and the reason PowerV uses these two specific ingredients and not cheaper alternatives.

Here is the uncomfortable truth about the category. "Plant stem cells" is a popular marketing phrase, and a lot of products put it on the label with little or no clinical testing behind the specific ingredient they used. Many use generic, unstandardized extracts chosen because they are inexpensive and sound impressive, not because there is published evidence they do anything.

We went the other way, deliberately. PowerV uses two patented, standardized actives from Mibelle Biochemistry, a Swiss biotech house that publishes clinical studies on its ingredients: MossCellTec No.1 and PhytoCellTec Argan. These are the versions with real ingredient-level data behind them, the same class of biotech actives found in luxury serums, chosen precisely because there is published evidence rather than just a nice-sounding name.

It costs more to formulate this way. We think it is the only honest way to put "stem cell" on a label.

Why support matters

The scaffold that holds
your skin up

To understand why PowerV is built around support, it helps to understand what actually keeps skin firm, and what happens as that structure declines. This is general skin biology.

SUPPORTED DECLINING, HARD TO REBUILD

Two proteins give young skin its structure. Collagen provides strength and firmness, it makes up roughly three quarters of skin's dry weight. Elastin lets skin stretch and snap back into place. Together they form a scaffold, like the frame inside a cushion, that holds everything up and keeps skin looking firm and bouncy.

Starting in your mid-twenties, natural collagen production gradually slows, by roughly one percent per year, and the pace picks up around menopause. Elastin is barely renewed in adult skin at all. Add oxidative stress from sun and pollution, which actively breaks these proteins down, and the scaffold slowly weakens. As it does, skin looks thinner, softer, and less firm. This is normal, and it happens to everyone.

Why it is so much easier to protect than to rebuild

Here is the key point, and the reason dermatologists talk so much about prevention. The structural proteins that hold skin up, collagen and especially elastin, are far easier to protect than to recover once they are gone. Elastin in particular is barely regenerated in adult skin, so the loss accumulates over a lifetime and is genuinely difficult to reverse. Once the scaffold weakens, it does not simply spring back.

That is why the smartest, kindest thing you can do for your future skin is to defend the structure you have, every day, from the oxidative stress that breaks it down, and to keep the barrier strong so skin stays resilient. Protection compounds quietly over years. Waiting to react does not.

Important, and honest: the above describes how skin ages in general and why daily protection matters. It is education, not a product claim. One honest detail: PowerV contains a small amount of gluconolactone, a very mild polyhydroxy acid (PHA), as part of a gentle preservative system. That is why we say no harsh exfoliating acids, rather than no acids at all. It is far milder than glycolic or salicylic acid and generally well tolerated by sensitive skin.
